About the project

Citrea is the first zero-knowledge rollup to enable Bitcoin applications (₿apps) without changing Bitcoin's consensus rules. Citrea extends Bitcoin's utility using zero-knowledge technology, BitVM and Bitcoin as a data availability layer. Citrea’s bridge optimistically proves zero-knowledge proofs on Bitcoin, making Citrea the most secure and trust-minimized platform to use Bitcoin in decentralized finance. With Citrea, developers can build scalable payment systems, tap into Bitcoin’s liquidity with financial applications, and build privacy systems. Citrea is currently on testnet and approaching mainnet.
